Merry New Year

Another year down. Big whoop. I hope everyone had a much better holiday than I did. At least I had my family. And Sunny's. He stayed here to work and I got to represent at all the family gatherings. Happy, happy, joy, joy and all that. Saw old friends too, which was nice. I stayed with Sunny's sister and family Christmas night and the next night so the day after Xmas I could install the closet organizer she wanted for her gift. Turned out great. I took before and after pics and I'll post them whenever I get around to getting a Flickr album up and running.

I caught the cold my mom and dad had so I'm feeling run down. I was using a nasal spray to open up the sinuses, but I had to stop since I reached the limit for the number of days you could use it. Not too stuffy today, so hopefully I'm getting better. I baked in the sauna last night and will continue to do it every night until I get rid of this. (Plus, it's a great calorie burner whilst sitting on your ass!)

Here's the new me breakdown for the last quarter of 2007:
Saw my ob/gyn on October 4. Weight was obscene. My BMI at this point is 38.4. Thanks to two bouts of stomach flu, attempting to eat better, walking a couple of times a week with my neighbor, reduced appetite thanks to marital problems and a decision to make a better me from that point forward, I lost 35.6 pounds (BMI 33.1 or -5.3 in 3 months, YAY!) as of 1/1/08. I didn't take body measurements until the end of November. (25 pounds gone by that point.) From 11-26-07 to 1-1-08 I lost 10 pounds, .5 inch from my bustline, nothing from my waistline, 1.5 inches from my hips and an inch from each thigh. (Plus, TOM is expected any time so I'm probably retaining fluid like a bitch.) I went from a comfortable size 22 to a high 18/low 20.

I found old blood test results from January 2005 to compare to the ones done December 2007.

Glucose - 97/96 (-1)
Total Cholesterol - 177/156 (-21) YAY!
Triglycerides - 95/106 (+11) boo!
HDL - 43/36 (-7) Double boo!
LDL - 116/99 (-17) YAY!

Not sure why the triglyceride and HDL levels went in the wrong directions, but contiued weight loss and adding regular exercise should bring them around. And not too happy with the glucose numbers so I'm hoping that diet and exercise plus reducing consumption of simple sugars and sugar substitutes will bring the glucose number down and cut the risk of developing Type 2 diabetes.

For this year I'm going to lose an additional 75 pounds, get cardio and weight lifting back into my life, eat less refined food and more fiber, take vitamins and other supplements regularly and get more good fats into my diet. When I get to my goal weight, I'll re-evaluate how I look and feel and see if I need to lose more.

Also up for this year, either a job or volunteer work. And continued organizing and dejunking of this house. I need to see what the next few months bring, good or bad. 2008 could either be good or really, really bad relationship-wise.

And if you want to see the cutest puppy, go to Pioneer Woman's site. Adorable! How come everyone else gets normal pups? Bizzy didn't sleep outside his crate for something like 8 months. I saw a GWP at the vet the same age as Bizzy and it was calm and normal. We keep getting basket case dogs. He's a cutie though.

Hsppy 2008 everyone!! Keep positive thoughts for us. We need all the help we can get.
